PERSONALITY
Corrin is a kindhearted, optimistic and curious young man who cares deeply for the people he loves and will come to the aid of anyone who should ask him for it, rapid-firing apologies if he does something to upset others. Despite having been sheltered throughout all of his childhood, he is quite social and conversational, as well as persuasive to the point of convincing some enemy soldiers to join his cause. Aside from being unusually charismatic and attracting people to him, Corrin is also mentioned to have a way with animals. Some of his behaviours and interests can be considered childish, like how he enjoys playing hide and seek with Kiragi in their support. He is shown to display his emotions freely, becoming flustered and stuttering when teased, and being prone to crying easily. His most notable quirk (noted by a number of members in his army) is how naïve he is in that he is very quick to trust individuals, even when he is advised not to, likely due to him growing up having no experience of the outside world. He has a fondness for physical affection, especially head pats, which he likes to do to others as well. He is also known to have a tendency to oversleep unintentionally.
Corrin has shown to possess a variety of creative talents, as Kaze's Private Quarter invite quote reveals that he is a great piano player, while some supports notes that he enjoys writing poetry, short stories, and reading about philosophy. However, he has trouble with household basics as he was never allowed independence in the Northern Fortress. Several of his supports are the very first time he attempts such chores, such as him burning massive amounts of tea in his support with Jakob, and having trouble doing his own laundry in his support with Frederick. He is hardly discouraged by this, however, as his eagerness to learn comes from a desire to be a bit less over-reliant on others. His fresh exposure to the outside world after being released from captivity has him appreciating the small things in life in a whimsical manner, such as when he came across a family of baby rabbits and a flock of birds as shown in a support conversation with Xander.

BACKGROUND
Corrin was born to Queen Mikoto of Hoshido who raised him alongside her husband, King Sumeragi, and had siblings in Ryoma, Hinoka, Takumi, and Sakura. Amidst a conflict between Hoshido and Nohr, Garon, the King of Nohr, trapped and assassinated Sumeragi, kidnapping Corrin and raising him as a member of Nohrian royalty alongside Xander, Camilla, Leo, and Elise. Despite being regarded as an adopted sibling into the royal family, Corrin was starved, beaten and even whipped by Garon's knights in his early years. He was confined within the walls of the Northern Fortress for his entire life then onwards, and his memories were sealed away by a curse, leaving him unable to recall his kidnapping and history until the curse was broken. During this time, he only received the care of his retainers Flora, Felicia, Jakob, and his Nohrian siblings.
When Corrin was granted release from the tower, it is revealed that he was to be used as a pawn in order for King Garon to successfully infiltrate Hoshido's borders and invade the country. Garon sends an assassin intent on taking Corrin's life, which Mikoto intercepts and is killed instead. Overcome with despair over Mikoto's death, Corrin awakens his dragon blood for the first time: Transforming into a dragon and then going on a rampage. Azura approaches Corrin with her special pendant and song, managing to quell his rage, but not after she takes a near fatal blow. After she sings to him, Corrin's memories come back, including those of Garon's assassination of Sumeragi. The Yato reveals itself from the destruction and chooses Corrin as its wielder. Mikoto's death causes the barrier around Hoshido that prevents incoming hostile attacks to disappear. Forces led by Nohrian royalty pursue Hoshido but are interrupted by the Hoshidan army, and Corrin finds himself at the centre of the conflict. He must make a crucial, life-changing decision: stay in Hoshido to fight the Nohrian forces (Birthright), return to Nohr and help them in their conquest of Hoshido (Conquest), or refuse to pick sides. (Revelation)
Corrin has strong familial attachment to both the Nohrian and Hoshidan royal siblings. Regardless of his choice on who to side with in the war, he is reluctant to fight against either family whenever he is forced to face them. This also leads him to be extremely merciful and will always try to end a battle against them and their forces with as little casualties as possible, and will always spare his sibling. Even in the instance where Corrin refuses to pick a side, the thought of both families fighting each other are equally bad and he hopes that one day, the two families will see eye to eye and become friends.
