I am having trouble sleeping, and I.. thought about you.

I suppose I had hoped we might be able to talk for a bit.

Trouble sleeping? That's not good.

If talking is what you want to do, then I'm fine with that. I'm not sleepy right now.

It is more common than I would like, I admit. I have had trouble sleeping for more than half a decade, now.

I was just doing a bit of reading. There's so much literature here that I haven't seen before!
I read a lot of books back home, and it's nice to reconnect with an old hobby. Especially when it feels so new.
But don't worry, I am fine to message you instead. I'm due for a break!

I'm not much of a reader. I much prefer to train or go for a ride when I have the free time. Though I did enjoy reading with you.

I'm reading about the stars! I think this place is a lot more advanced than my world.
There's so much info in this book! About constellations, planets, everything! I love expanding my knowledge on things like this!

( And Dimitri is reminded once again that this beautiful, beautiful man is too good for him and his issues. )

What is a planet?

( oh ... he's charmed. Dimitri doesn't know, just as he did! )

I didn't know what they were until I read this book.
They seem to be so normal. There is so much literature on them.

A planet is a large, round astronomical body that is not a sun, moon or star.
Kind of like a big round thing in space. They come in all sizes!
Some have really different climates and terrain, too!
There is a lot of difference between the planets.
Some planets like Earth are made of rock, and some like Jupiter are made of gas.
The hottest planet is Venus where the average temperature is 460°C, and the coldest is Uranus, which is -220°C.
Saturn is famous for having rings of small pieces of ice and dust around it.
Other planets have moons too. Jupiter has at least 66 of them!

( why, yes, he is citing this all from the book! )

Next time I spend time with you, we can read it together. There's pictures and everything!

I'm glad I am not alone in that regard. Many people here seem to know far more about the world outside where they live. I often feel left out in that regard.

Haha, me too! It's so wild to know about. It's hard to imagine that any of this is real, but it is!
It's why I can't put this book down. Everything is so fascinating!
All this knowledge that I was completely oblivious to ...
It feels like such a blessing being able to learn it!

I have found that the people here come from such interesting and different worlds as well.
I met someone recently who told me of her home and how they worship many gods and how they have different reasons they are worshipped.
It is different from where I am from, where our church teaches us of the Goddess many worship.

Wow, that's different to what I know, too!
There isn't just one Goddess in my world. There's several gods.
My, uh, father was one.

No, no, it's nothing like that.
It was a huge secret. I didn't know until I faced my father in battle ...
I didn't know he was my father.

In my world, there were divine beings called the First Dragons.
God of the Flame, God of the Ice, God of the Wind.
The Rainbow Sage.
The Dusk Dragon, The Dawn Dragon, and The Silent Dragon.

The Silent Dragon was my father.
I don't know what he was like before he lost his mind and degenerated.
It's apparently a thing that happens to ancient dragons.
The other gods knew of this, and sealed their powers away.
My father... didn't do that.
He degenerated into a sadistic, evil dragon intent on killing every human.
My destiny as I learned was to stop him.
That was my birthright.

But... I'm not a god like he was. I guess half of my blood is, but ...
I'm not a First Dragon, I won't degenerate. I'm mortal.

( There are more questions to ask, but he feels like there's something more important to address in this instance. )

I am unfamiliar with divine dragons and how such powerful beings live their lives.
But I have said it before and will say it again, I have met cruel men and monsters, and you are neither.
I don't believe there is any force here or in any world powerful enough to corrupt or degrade a soul as pure as yours.

( It doesn't take long for Dimitri to dress and make his way over to Corrin's.

He opens the door quietly, calling out: )

Corrin, it's Dimitri.

Dimitri ... ( he responds, quietly, before finding the blonde man. Corrin is wearing a loose pyjama shirt and his boxers. his eyes are red and puffy, and if Dimitri were to assume he's been crying, he would be absolutely correct.

he sniffs, and rubs one of his eyes with a hand. )

Sorry to call you out so late. Please come in.

( Dimitri blinks at the sight of Corrin, the red and puffy eyes. How long had he been crying before he'd come here?

He frowns and there's an immediate shake of his head. )

Please, don't apologize.

( He moves towards Corrin, wasting no time in sweeping the smaller man up and into his arms to gently nudge his forehead against Corrin's temple. He supports him easily, making his way towards the bedroom. )

Tell me what's wrong.

I just ...

( oh ... he's being scooped up. and he's 100% okay with this. he's soft in Dimitri's arms, showing no resistance. actually enjoying it by the way he leans against the much larger man's chest. )

I can't stop thinking about everything I've learnt. The fox took me back again, and I lived through the war ... I know where I come from. Everything I told you. My father ... was a monster. How can I be related to someone like that? What if I'm just as bad as he is?

Those thoughts ... have kept me from sleeping.

( Corrin weighs nothing in his arms, and adjusting his hold to keep him close is an easy thing as he walks. He listens as they go, careful not to disturb the smaller man as he settles on the bed.

Once there, he takes his time gathering one of the blankets, wrapping it around Corrin before tugging him closer. He presses a soft kiss to his forehead. )

You may share blood, but that does not mean you have to become your father. What I see when I look at you, with every moment we share with one another, is nothing like the man you have described.

Dimitri ... ( being fussed into blankets like this ... it's so nice. he feels a warmth overwhelm him that he hasn't felt in his life. the love he received from his siblings was fulfilling and great, but this is just something else entirely. Dimitri makes him feel so protected and almost bursting with love.

his glassy red eyes gaze up at him while he speaks in a soft voice, nestled close beside him. )

I'm so glad you have so much faith in me. Honestly, I am. The truth for me has been really hard to swallow. I've had a lot of fear that I may be the same as him, but ... having you here with me really helps me more than words can say. I don't know how I'd manage all alone ... no one from my world is here. ( it's such a sad thought. his voice cracks a little when he admits this. ) Thank you for being here ... thank you for accepting me, even though I'm so frightened of myself and who I share my blood with.

( Those strong arms tighten their grip just the slightest around Corrin, and Dimitri continues to pepper him with gentle attention. A soft kiss to the forehead, a gentle nudge of his nose against the base of one ear, a loving nuzzle of his head against Corrin's. Anything he can offer Corrin, he plans to.

There's nothing but an unyielding fondness in the way he looks down at the younger prince as he continues, lifting one hand to gently sweep his thumb at the corner of one eye. ) I will always be here for you in whatever way you need. ( Another sweep of his thumb at the corner of his eye. )

The only thing I fear from you is that you might leave me. ( Such a silly thing to say, he muses, when they're still feeling out whatever this is between them. ) But I promise, I will make sure you never become that man. If I ever worry you might be going down such a path, we'll work through it together.

( it's more comfort than he could ever dream of. he grips at the blankets tighter, nestling so close to Dimitri that his voice becomes slightly muffled. one part of that statement draws his attention immediately and feels as though it is something he must comment on. )

I don't want to leave you ... not ever. ( even the notion makes his heart ache. ) I love you, Dimitri. I ... I can't hold back these feelings any more.

( One hand moves to comb gently through the pale hair, letting the other nestle closer and burrow further into him as he sees fit. There's no rush for him to say or do anything further, and Dimitri is nothing but quiet and patient as they sit.

But the sound of that muffled voice, echoing a sentiment he feels down to his core, telling him something Dimitri's only whispered to the smaller prince in his sleep... It makes his heart beat faster in his chest, color dusting his cheeks. He tightens his grip reflexively, almost as if he's sure this is a dream and he will wake and find himself alone in his bed.

Only Corrin is still here in his arms. )

Corrin... ( He manages softly, leaning down to press a soft, affectionate kiss to one of the soft ears. ) I love you. You've brought me more happiness than I've ever known.
